Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the area, producing wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

- Hoppers Crossing area - multiple rescue reports
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 help reports
At one point on Sunday, more than 28k power users in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the state.
